Star and API Test Results for LLESD

printable version of 2010 data shown below, The Board Report on 2010 STAR Scores

Archived: Brief Summary of 2009 STAR Scores presented to the board September 9, 2009

California State Testing and Reporting (STAR)
Summary of 2010 Results

The California Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) Program includes the administration of four types of criterion – referenced assessments.

California Standards Tests (CST)
Based on California standards, CSTs measure student progress toward mastering California’s Academic Content Standards in English-language arts (ELA), mathematics, history-social science (H-SS), and science.

California Modified Assessments (CMA)
Administered to students with an IEP who meet CMA eligibility criteria, these tests are also based on California standards that measure student progress toward mastering California content standards in ELA and mathematics in grades 3-9, and science in grades 5 and 8.

California Alternate Performance Assessment (CAPA)
These tests measure the progress of students with significant cognitive disabilities toward mastering sets of California’s content standards in ELA, math, and science.

Standards-based Tests in Spanish (STS)
In Spanish, these tests permit students to demonstrate achievement of California content standards in ELA and mathematics in grades 2-8. Student who take the STS must also take the regular CST assessments for their grade level.

California Standards Tests
All California Standards Tests are based on how well students achieve identified state-adopted standards at their grade level, not on how student results compare with other students taking the same tests. The table below reflects tests given to students in the Las Lomitas District in grades 2-8 in 2010. No LLESD students took the CAPA or STS tests in 2010.

STAR CST in WRITING
Las Lomitas Elementary School District
Student Performance Levels Grade 7 for 2010

The CST Writing Applications assessment is administered each March. The State Board of Education cancelled the grade 4 test in order to comply with budget reduction mandated by the State Legislature. Students in grade 7 did take the assessment. Results are reported as one of six clusters of the California English-Language Arts Standards Test. The writing score, 2, 4, 6, or 8, is added to the ELA multiple-choice score.  CDE has not set proficiency levels for the CST in writing.
